5 teams make 10 pairings. With 5 teams, one team has no opponent each round, so 2 games run at a time over 5 rounds and each team rests once.
Round 1 is 2 v 5, 4 v 3. Team 1 rests first.
Who plays whom, and when
The top teams meet 1 v 2 in round 4, 1 v 3 in round 2 and 2 v 3 in round 5. The last round is 1 v 4, 3 v 2.
Home games: every team has exactly 2.
How long it takes
At 30 minutes a game, 10 games take 5 h of court time. A round has 2 games, so 2 courts play a round together and finish in 2 h 30 min; on 1 court it takes 5 h. Rank teams as set out in the tiebreaker guide.
If your field changes
Dropping to 4 teams gives 4 fewer games, and 2 rounds shorter. Going up to 6 teams gives 5 more games, in the same number of rounds. Teams drop out the week before more often than they join, so print one sheet for the next size down.
