Trivia and quiz nights tournament bracket
A trivia night is normally scored by rounds, not by bracket. Brackets and round robins fit a quiz league: teams play head to head, week by week.

Trivia and quiz nights rules that shape the bracket
- A usual quiz is a fixed number of rounds of questions; the team with the most points wins.
- For a head-to-head league, two teams answer the same set of questions and the higher score wins the match.
- Season tables rank by match wins, then total points.
Games and time for common sizes
Time per game is set at 60 minutes and 1 rooms. Change either one in the games calculator.
| Field | Games | Court time | Clock time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 teams, round robin | 15 | 15 h | 15 h |
| 8 teams, round robin | 28 | 28 h | 28 h |
| 10 teams, round robin | 45 | 45 h | 45 h |
| 8 teams, single elimination | 7 | 7 h | 7 h |
Which format to use
For 6 to 12 teams, a round robin over weeks gives everyone the same number of matches.
A bracket works for a one-night final with 8 or 16 teams answering in pairs.
Odd numbers of teams rest one team each week; use that team as the scorer.
Questions
Do I need a bracket for a normal trivia night?
No. Add up round scores. A bracket only helps for head-to-head play.
