League schedule generator

Paste your teams, pick a start date, and get a week-by-week league calendar. Skip holiday weeks, play every pair twice, and download it as a spreadsheet.

How it works

The schedule is a round robin: each team plays every other team once (or twice for home and away). One round is played each week on the same weekday as your start date.

List holiday dates to skip, as year-month-day separated by commas. The schedule moves on to the next week.

Using the CSV

The CSV has week, date, home and away columns. Open it in any spreadsheet to add fields, times and referee names.

Worked example: an eight-team league

Eight teams make 28 games in seven rounds. Played one round a week, that is seven weeks, and with a skip for a holiday week it runs eight calendar weeks. Four games a week mean four courts or four time slots on two courts.

With a home-and-away season the same league plays fourteen rounds. List the weeks you cannot play, such as school breaks or holidays, and the generator pushes the rounds past them and lists the real dates, ready to download as a CSV file for a spreadsheet.

Before you send it out

Check the first and last weeks with your venue, and give each team the list of its own dates. If a team drops out mid-season, keep the games already played and ask players to treat the rest as forfeits, or rebuild the table from the remaining teams.

Questions

How many weeks does a league take?

A single round robin takes n − 1 weeks for an even number of teams, n for an odd number. Double that for home and away.
